[Collection of documents concerning the Suckling family and estates], 1613-1643.

Seven manuscripts, all on vellum, of documents regarding property of the Suckling family. Many are land indentures concerning the manor of Rose Hall and other Suckling estates in Suffolk, and are signed either by Sir John Suckling, the poet, or his father, also named Sir John Suckling. An indenture dated June 20, 1613 grants the "mannor and lordshipps of Rose and Rosehall" to John Suckling; another indenture signed by the elder Suckling on his intended marriage with Jane Hawkins promises her 6000 pounds at his death and is accompanied by a list of her silver plate and household items, outstanding debts owed to her and her father, and debts her father owed to others "which are to bee satisfied by Sir John Sucklinge."
